Biography:

Jayson Gislason is a settler graduate student from Winnipeg, Manitoba, where he lives, works, plays and studies on Treaty 1 territory. Jayson currently studies in the Joint Master’s Program between the Universities of Manitoba and Winnipeg. He has received support from Research Manitoba, The Winnipeg Foundation, St. John’s College, SSHRC, and The University of Winnipeg. His thesis is examining the intersection between contemporary land acknowledgement practices and the history of the recognition and performance of the Treaty 1 relationship in Southern Manitoba. Jayson holds a BA from the University of Manitoba.
