Book Launch: Who We Are

Winnipeg Convention Centre

When I heard that Murray Sinclair had written a memoir, I wondered how such a life could be contained to the pages of a book. More selfishly, I wondered if this was one of limited remaining oppourtunities to hear him reflect, and tell stories from his experiences. There was not much of a hesitation to attend the book launch for Who We Are: Four Questions for a Life and a Nation.

While Murray was unable to attend the event himself, the memory of his family members taking pictures and videos of the assembled crowd to show him occasionally brings a smile to my face.

Tanya Talaga (Seven Fallen Feathers, All Our Relations and The Knowing) and the other speakers filled large shoes in an admirable fashion, discussing Sinclair’s impact on Canadian society and his rise to prominence, notoriety and reverence.

Unfortunately, my inclination that this may be one of my only chances to hear Sinclair speak was accurate.
