Book Launch: Wînipêk

I attended the (standing room only) book launch for Dr. Niigaan Sinclair’s Wînipêk: Visions of Canada from an Indigenous Centre.

While subscribing to a newspaper to follow Sinclair’s perspective sounded strenuous to an exhausted graduate student, I was happy to hear that his perspective is available in a more permanent and referentially available format. I can only hope there will be a volume 2 commissioned in short order.

Sinclair’s opening section, offering an acknowledgement of Territory was thought provoking, as is his commentary on the events of Canada Day, 2021. Watching the event, one could feel the thankfulness that Sinclair held for the support he felt from the people in the room turn to feelings of celebration.
